What is IndiaFOSS?

IndiaFOSS is the premier annual conference organized by FOSS United, uniting developers, open-source creators, students, policy makers, and community advocates from across India. Held at the NIMHANS Convention Centre in Bengaluru, it serves as a collaborative festival for Free and Open Source Software and the digital commons.

Unlike conventional commercial tech conferences, IndiaFOSS is purely community-driven. It focuses on functional software, open-source sustainability, open hardware, developer freedoms, and transparent peer collaboration.

FOSS Awards & Community Showcase

Spotlighting outstanding open-source projects crafted across India, voted by the community and celebrated live on stage.

Spotlight: Open Hardware Devroom

The Open Hardware Devroom was one of the most engaging tracks at IndiaFOSS 2026, celebrating the convergence of physical computing, open silicon, and accessible electronics prototyping.

The track was organized and hosted by Srinivasan M (Founder of PCB Cupid) alongside community leads Amit G, Balu Babu, and Kailash.

The devroom brought together hardware enthusiasts, embedded engineers, and open-source advocates for practical demonstrations:

  • Open Silicon & RISC-V: Progress in accessible chip design, open RTL, and developer tooling.
  • Embedded Prototyping: Practical techniques for board bring-up, debugging, and open manufacturing workflows.
  • Community Hardware Projects: Demonstrations of community-built microcontrollers, robotics, and interactive hardware systems.

[!NOTE] Sessions placed a heavy emphasis on live demonstrations and practical design files rather than conceptual slide decks, encouraging builders to inspect schematics and prototype their own designs.
